Brooke's Singing
Brooke has performed with several bands since she began singing professionally at the age of seventeen. Despite her full time studies at UCL, Brooke works as a vocalist part time, singing at events, cocktail hours and private functions. Clients include London Welsh Rugby, Babble Bar in Berkeley Square and
‘My music taste is very eclectic, loving soul, blues, motown and jazz. I’m inspired by the richness of Ella Fitzgerald’s and Dinah Washington’s voice, the raw emotions of Judy Garland and the sophisticated styles of the Supremes.’
‘I have sung live for function bands including the Dimensions, the Wolftones and Good Company to name a few. Singing for weddings, bah mitzvahs and birthday parties I’ve gained my confidence in using my voice and adapting to different styles. In october 2007 I sang Commitment’s ‘Midnight Hour’ at the Bloomsbury Theatre in Euston, the following year 'Let's Get It On' and then last year, I sang my adaptation of Van Halen's classic 'Jump' with Jazz society's big band. My biggest achievement to date I would say are my performances with live band 'Brooke & the Buzz.’
Brooke has performed with Cover Story, The Dimensions, The Wolftones and Good Company and Unprotected Sax. Her venues have included Lambeth Palace Garden Mansion, Hennerton Golf Club, The Wentworth Club, The Guards Polo Club, David Salomon's Estate, Venetian Ball at Reigate High School, The Six Bells in Brentford, London Welsh Rugby, Shepperton Film studios, Babble Bar in Berkeley square as well as other music pubs and the Bloomsbury Theatre.
Brooke and The Buzz
Brooke & the Buzz was formed in 2007 'recreating the 20s raunchy tones with a swing beat' when Brooke moved to University College of London. The band consists of Brooke on vocals, Jamie Hone on Saxophone, Steve Markovsky on Keys, Alex Karski on Guitar, Mike Roberts on Double Bass, Max Fagandini on Trumpet, Josh Luis on Trombone and drummer Mark Tomlinson.
'The Buzz as a group are some of the most talented musicians I have had the pleasure of working with in my time at UCL. When they play together you can be assured of both quality and energy!' ..... Charlie Clinton, UCL Jazz Society President
